Vadodara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VCCI), recipient of the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Award for Fair Business Practices, is registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860 and has been espousing for the cause of MSMEs and has been shaping and promoting them, by coordinating with Central, State, Local and semi-government authorities.
“VADODARA” city’s growth is largely attributed to the setting up of Industrial Estate by GIDC at Makarpura/ Vadsar localities in the year 1969, comprising of small, medium and large units.
With the growth of G.I.D.C Estate in Makarpura, surrounding areas also attracted many industries. To represent the interests of the entrepreneurs and to take up the problems collectively, there was a necessity to organise an Association and thus was born “Makarpura Industrial Estate Association” in 1969. As the saying goes “UNITY IS STRENGTH”, the Association introduced the Membership scheme and the strength then was only 100 members. As the Association became more and more popular among trade and industrial circle, other industries in the city also started taking keen interest in the activities, and thus Vadodara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VCCI) came into existence in 1980.
Low key operations, emphasis on problem solving, services to the members and the community, collective representations, developing mutual relations for business and social aims, was and is PRIME Motto of VCCI. This attracted more and more membership and crossed four figures. More Members brought more activities for the Chamber and the wheels of progress began rolling. Today more than 4500 industries flourish here, employing thousands of people, manufacturing a wide range of products – from fasteners to professional electronics and from window grills to complete chemical plants.
VCCI works for MSMEs overall growth & development through various activities that includes Representation of Industry views at Government level, Upgrading technical know-how through various interactive Seminars and Programs, Organising National level Exhibitions, Vendor Development Programs etc.. for the benefit of its member.
VCCI, is also, not oblivious to its social obligations and has carried out various relief work projects to provide support & help to the affected, during the times of calamities & natural disaster. The recent Corona pandemic saw Vaccination Camps organized at VCCI premises, Oxygen Bank opened for the needy and other coordinating services at Company doorstep, carried out.
On Education front, it has signed an MoU, with the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda to provide best possible support to students for skill development, outcome based trainings, placement, R&D Services etc, by exploring the needs of the industries.
Likewise, for Startups, it has joined hands with Gujarat Student Startup & Innovation Hub (i-Hub), to create a bridge between innovation and commercialization i.e. the entire journey from mind to market, to help nurture the Startup Community through either mentoring, collaborating, investing or connecting with relevant people in the industry.
Presently, it is also working on the development & maintenance of the green belt areas in GIDC-Makarpura estate for a better & cleaner, industrial estate for all stakeholders.
